The Brief - Take an existing card game, modify its rules, and develop it into a new game - visual world, mechanics, and physical object.
Havurot ("Gangs") is a social card game for 2–7 players, co-designed with Dor Gardos. We started from the mechanics of a familiar game and reworked them into something with a different feel and stakes. Each player tries to collect a four-of-a-kind, a full "Gang" of one group you can usually find in each high school, while avoiding being caught holding a single card: if another player completes their quartet while you have it, you lose the round.
That one mechanic drives the whole game. The play becomes a running exchange of bluffs, misdirection, and reading the table, as much between the players as between the cards.
The visual world is built around distinct high school groups, each with its own graphic identity and attitude. The tension between the groups — how each one holds itself, how each looks at the others — carries through the cards, the box, and the game itself.
